Tom Whittle
Principal
Mr. Whittle has been with Independence Mission Schools for six years. He was honored to be selected in 2019 as the first lay principal of St. Barnabas in the school’s storied history. Previously, Mr. Whittle served as assistant principal at St. Frances Cabrini and as a teacher leader at St. Helena-Incarnation. He taught for several years at Simon Gratz Mastery Charter High School. Mr. Whittle is a proud graduate of Drexel University and earned his Master’s of Education at Temple University. He earned his Principal Certification through the PhillyPLUS program. Mr. Whittle and his wife have two sons, Fitz and Ren. His favorite thing about St. Barnabas is the warm, welcoming, diverse community that is made up of families from across the world.
Becca Lord
Assistant Principal
Ms. Lord has been with St. Barnabas for nine years and is in her 3rd year as assistant principal. Prior to becoming a school leader, she was a 1st grade teacher. With the recent class of 2022, she celebrated the graduation of her first class of 1st graders. Ms. Lord is a proud Temple University graduate and was part of the Maguire Foundation scholarship program, earning her Reading Specialist Master’s degree at St. Joseph’s University. Ms. Lord was recognized with the IMS St. John Neumann Teacher Impact Award in 2020. As a leader, Ms. Lord loves being able to work with all of our scholars across the school.
